The Medical Sciences Academy offers an innovative, integrated learning environment designed to provide the student with the medical skills and training necessary to succeed in post-secondary healthcare career education and/or to successfully transition into the healthcare workforce.

PURPOSE AND INSTRUCTION
Students graduate prepared for licensure examinations or with valid certificates of completion in a variety of medical careers. Industry Certifications recognized for Allied Health Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator, Home Health Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse. Florida Department of Education Occupational Completion Points (OCP’s) for any clinical courses listed above.
Pre-Med/ Practical Nursing
This program offers students unique courses and opportunities in preparation for top post-secondary schools and future careers.
PRACTICAL NURSING
- This program is one of only two high school academy programs in PB County that provides the students with complete requirements for licensure by the Florida State Board of Nursing.
- This comprehensive program combines a rigorous academic curriculum with intense clinical and laboratory experience. Student internships at are hospitals and other health care facilities are conducted while under the supervision of academy health sciences staff.
Minimum requirements for this academy are cumulative GPA 3.0 or greater and successful completion of FCAT Math and Reading on the first attempt.
MED TECH
This area includes instruction for Nurse Assistant, Home Health Aide, Health Unit Coordinator, and Allied Health Assisting. Students will receive internships at area hospitals or other health care facilities. Upon successful completion students receive OCP’s and certificates recognized in the health care industry.
